Thanks Peter.
I didn't want to go down the policy editor track because it's not trivial to
administer - or automate. I'll try and find the stuff you got for Warren
(where did they come from?) but the client I have in mind needs a trivial
set-it-and-forget-it solution.

Hi Max.
I downloaded some pretty good shareware lock out applications a while back
for Warren. Never got to implement them though, although I evaluated
several.
Generally they are all pretty much policy editors, which allows a reasonable
amount of control. None of them were superbly easy to use, but they were
much better than the policy editor with 95.
There are also utilities that go further - to lock out various ploys that
can disable the policies, such as password protection.
Which reminds me, if all you want to do is lock out the kids, most modern
machines have the option of CMOS passwords. This way it won't boot without
the right password.
Only DONT FORGET THE PASSWORD or you'll never boot your PC again!

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: Single purpose PC - Lock utility
I've got a client who has a Win 95 PC that is only used for a single Delphi
Application and a single DOS application.
Because it's not in use for most of the time it has become the games PC, and
no amount of harassing seems to stop it (I suspect it's the kids when bored
on the weekend
As a result he want's to "Lock" the Windows 95 Desktop.
Has anyone got experience of a SIMPLE utility or solution that either
disables everything - or replaces the standard desktop with a
non-configurable program launcher.
NT isn't an option because the DOS app wants to talk direct to the hardware.
TIA
Max
