What sound card do you have that has an optical plug on it?

Me too. I've taken to getting a CD (legally, of course), MP3ing it at
256K (128K sounds awfull), then recording that to MD via my sound card
which has an optical digital out - and my MD has an optical in....

MD-Data. They had them for a while, but it failed 'cos it couldn't write
audio, and noone really wanted it back then. Until ZIP came along (which
is about the worst format anyone could possibly want, tho its a
'standard' now)

Not really - music on an MD is compressed about 4.6:1 using a lossy
scheme, ala MP3 (but a lot better quality), so you dont really want to
back up on it. A 74min disk will hold about 120meg....

MD-Data drives are about it, I think....

Its LOSSY compression tho.....

and the fact that what comes in != what goes out.

Unless you watched movies too much.... like, the matrix, maybe (what Neo
gives to the "White Rabbit" chick looks a lot like one) or Strange Days,
which is really coool.
