FYI there has just recently been an new release of IE5, its now IE5.01 which
apparently contains bug fixes etc... The only problem is you would have to
download it if you wanted it. :)

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: Win98 re-install
I have created a nasty case of DLL hell on my home computer when I
uninstalled IE5, (IE5 & my original Win98 set-up killed each other).
Re-installing IE5 might fix it, but I don't have an install set on the
computer anymore & can't connect to the net to d/l it.
I tried to re-install the entire Win98, but the Win98 CD, (standard OEM
version which came with the machine), won't install as it detects something
on the C drive - it tells me it is designed for OEM installs & I need the
upgrade version. I have done re-installs before no problems with Win95 so I
guess it is new & 'improved' MS copy protection getting in the way (rather
wish they would fix some of the stupid bugs in Win98/IE 5 I have noted while
fighting with my machine over the weekend).
Any ideas on what the Win98 looks for on the drive? I have tried moving
everything out of the root & renaming the windows directory - do I have to
re-format the drive for the install to work? (arrrgh - not another machine
re-build)...
