We used to use PC Route (DOS version of WinRoute?)& it was fantastic.
It was about 50 Kb in size & was configured via a INI file.  

We ran it on a old 386-16 diskless/headless box (worth $50 at the time) & it
seemed to outperform the 3Com router it was eventually replaced with.

Very easy to use and in combination with a old 486-33 box running Linux &
DNS server & Harvast cache was more reliable & easier than our current $10K+
MS setup.
