I see the world differently here ... freedom is not the ability to do just anything, no-one has that. I consider myself free, but cannot go out night-clubbing lest I get a clubbing of my own upon my return. That is because I freely agree to that situation with my wife. I am free to what I want in this forum, but do not say some things I'd really like to say, lest someone takes offence. I do that freely. We are all restricted in our freedoms, and how that is effected is different in different countries and in different times. Yet the current set of rules we have to manage business and politics are not set in concrete. They will change, and my hope is that the experience of the past will be learnt so that a "better" way is found. So I do not think it unreasonable to expect that better ways will be found that meet my "idealistic view" for the future. Without any such vision it will never happen. Were ever not taught "Failing to plan is planning to fail"?
