Another Slavic (?) friend I spoke to said that the biggest surprise for
him is that when it rains no one worries about jackets or raincoats
or umbrellas. Of course in Wellington, you're as likely to lose an
umbrella as stay dray from it, but I was surprised.

Some people think thats a nice suggestion to make, but, I disagree : if 
you want to be a professional, be a professional, and professionals get paid. 
Well, Expect to get paid.

Of course, if its going to make the difference between having a job and
not, then you need to decide, but if the job is serious, how happy will
you be not getting paid at 8pm on a Friday night when your manager is 
screaming at you for something you agreed would be done that week and 
you underestimated the time it'd take?
