Ditto - except it was 2600 pounds because I was in the UK.

But then my first real work machine, a Pentium Pro 200 with an Hitachi 17"
screen (weighing almost as much as our more modern 21" Sonys) also cost
$7800 + GST...

Surprisingly the screen still works and is in our server room. The Pentium
Pro has since been retired tho!

Ah, how times have changed! I paid $7900 for my first Dell inspiron
7000. It was state of the art for its time! Makes me laugh now <g>.
