Stephen, even if there were a "good" Studio tools discussion list, I still feel that it is appropriate to allow people to discuss compilers as relates to OpenSolaris on a separate mailing list. SunStudio is a critical tool, telling OpenSolaris developers to go elsewhere for there compiler issues seems extreme. (Wasn't it you that proposed the talk "Is it hard to contribute to OpenSolaris? How can we make it easier?") Allowing this mailing list to exist and encouraging Sun Studio support folks to subscribe would be a way to "make it easier." > The tools-discuss list is already setup for > OpenSolaris-related tools discussion. Anything non-OpenSolaris related > should go to a proper Sun Studio forum, not here. We have had engineers from the Studio group state that if there were a more focused Opensolaris compilers mailing list, they would be more willing and more responsive to helping us out. Also, unless I am missing something, we aren't talking about a generic sunstudio compiler support list. This is a list for issues with both GCC and Sunstudio as relates to compiling opensolaris code. What are the fears, and costs, that make this a non-starter in your mind? > -steve > > -- > stephen lau // stevel at sun.com | 650.786.0845 | http://whacked.net > opensolaris // solaris kernel development > -- - Brian Gupta http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nycosug/
