I think he means more of the, "putting it closer to what it should be" as
opposed to "dashing crusader for proper copyright notices".

Another option that I've been considering since I woke up (vent then sleep,
it clears the head) is to include it verbatim, but then put notice below the
(total) S15 re-affirming the "exact text" part and that "some" copyright
notices are in error at the source.  It seems the cleanest way available.

The frustration comes from the no-return-contact part...  I could handle not
getting any cooperation (it gives me the privilege of calling them jerks),
but the void-factor is irritating to no end.  I mean, is it a big company?
No.  But they do routinely put out products, including two recent releases,
so it feels like an intentional blow-off (and probably is).
