I respectfully disagree. Maggie is technically correct: until the final
licenses are released, WotC has proposed but not promised. They could still
have legal say, "Absolutely not, no way to avoid losing the D&D trademark",
they could still cancel the program, and we could all have spent a lot of
time for nothing. Yhey would still own the D20 trademark, which would become
a trademark for the common D20 mechanic behind all new WotC games.

Will this happen? My crystal ball is broken. A month ago, I would have said,
"No way." But the delays in the program make me a lot less confident.

You are welcome to draw what conclusions you like. So far, I have felt
Maggie's questions to simply represent a skeptical point of view.

All good points. I actually think there are plenty of grounds for skepticism
about D20 and OGL. I also think that innovative ideas succeed because people
ignore their skepticism and try them anyway. It only takes one winning idea
to make up for a lot of losing ideas.
