I'm with you. I actually took Maggie's comments as
reasonable skepticism. It was a kick in the pants. I
think any entrepeneur has to have an optimism about
their endeavor, but Maggie really made me focus on the
truly basic question: "why would anyone care?" I had
answered that question in my mind--if I didnt think
people would care I wouldnt have undertaken this
project. But it helps to stay focused on that issue.
I dont see WotC legal nuking the whole d20 idea. It
makes too much business sense--drive core products by
third parties handling the marginally profitable
products. But it may well be delayed for a while. And
I still want to be ready to go at the first possible
second. Is that a risk? Yes. But in my mind it is
worth it.
