I would agree in principle with that conclusion, which is one reason I am
happy that my personal opinion of the ethics of Open Gaming is congruent
with the business model of Open Gaming.

The "Golden Rule" is the ethical principle.  You should treat others the way
you wish to be treated; in this fashion, society as a whole functions more
smoothly and the human experience is enriched.

It does not, so long as you do not distribute your work.  The GPL recognizes
the difference in value between something you do for your personal use, and
something you do for the use of others.  I am comfortable with that
difference as well.
