In reading through the archives, I found a message where Brad Thompson
seemed to be saying that there would be no PI in the SRD. Wizards
doesn't plan to classify any of the spell names as PI, then? The entire
document will be free to use, redistribute, quote under the OGL?
>>
That's correct. As you may note from the SRD, some of the spell names
have been given different names. For instance, WotC feels Mordenkainen
is a valuable name, and is prime PI, thus rather than putting
"Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion" in the SRD, the spell has the name
"Mord's Magnificent Mansion". As I have not checked any other spells
named after other NPCs, I don't know which other names had other
adjustments.
WotC wanted to avoid the problem of PI in the SRD. That way, there is
less chance that someone might misuse the SRD to include PI where they
don't use the license for that PI.
When I release products for my own setting, they'll be downloadable zip
file, which will include the product, and a separate "OCRD" (open
content reference document). The OCRD will contain all the Open Content
that is in the product, so that I don't have to go to special trouble to
identify in the product itself what is Open Content, and the developer
need not work about mistakenly putting my PI in their works.
Of course, if you are producing printed products, you won't have the
page count to provide a OCRD, and if you did, your prices would be alot
higher than they could be (which your customers wouldn't like as they'd
be paying for something that is repeated). Of course, on the other
hand, if you included a cd with each product (such as the PHB), you
could include an OCRD and other product enhancements.

He reserves the game name "Gladiators and Generals" and its logo as PI.
Anybody else who wants to build on, quote from, and redistribute his
rules system is free to do so, but they can't use the PI [the name and
the logo] without abiding by whatever terms he has set out for use of
his trademark. Is this how it'd work?
>>
Yes it is.
As to the other questions, others could better answer them, than I
could.
