I was pointing out that you _can_ write software that _doesn't_ use D20
rules as part of the program in such a way as to violate the no game clause.
Of course, my view on the subject is that the PHP/perl/c++ stuff that I am
writing is _not_ D20, it's output is D20.
It's a dynamically generated web page. The Web page will be a D20
adventure. How it gets there is not important.
The user (a DM in this case) goes to the page, enters his/her ID number then
clicks on 'generate Adventure'. <magic happens here, having to do with
some CGI programs>. A D20 legal, with all the bells and whistles, web page
appears. He/She downloads or prints that page, and goes off and plays the
thing, off line.
Is my software D20? Does it matter?
No and No, IMAO. The _output_ of my software is D20. The software that
makes it no more D20 than MicroSoft Word or Pagemaker is. Does my web page
differ from any other D20 adventure on the Web? Again No, IMAO
Of course, now we get into the "how do you market this". I would like to
be able to say "This software package generates D20 compatible adventure
modules" but I'm still not sure if that is going to fly.
All of this will be up for public beta testing "real soon now".
