Using the almighty web, some variant names that might work could include:
(Avius = Lost)
Avius Erebus - Lost Lower World
Avius Acheron- Lost (river of) Lower World
Avius Chaos - Lost (boundless empty space) Lower World
Avius Infernus
Avius Terra
This was just a quick hit using an english-to-latin online dictionary with
Lost World as the words to check.
Well, now my secret of naming places is revealed.. :( I also hit
babelfish.altavista.com when I need to name towns.. just put in a word, then
translate from English to whatever language is appropriate. For example, I
want to name a town high in the mountains, which are inhabited by somewhat
germanic peoples, I might use 'Deep Well' as the seed (since part of the
story involves exploring a deep well' and in no time flat I have 'Tiefe
Vertiefung' as the name of the town. Since my gaming group is largly
comprised of folks who think speaking a second language means being able to
chat about Perl/Java/C++, this works really well..um, Vertiefung.
