I hate to get greedy, but....
There was a discussion on RPG.net the other day about
all those 60 page, saddle stitched games where you got
rules and setting in one, tight package. Star
Frontiers, FGU releases, and so on. The amazing thing
is that many of these games still have a loyal, if
diminishing, fan base.
WOTC has released the grandaddy of the RPGs, D&D, open
to developers large and small. With this unlikely,
who could have thunk it boon tossed in our laps, I
can't help but get my hopes up: Might defunct TSR
releases such as Star Frontiers see the light of day?
I would imagine that you'd see a great deal of
excitement (and purchasing of PHBs) by the loyal Star
Frontiers listserver members alone. Well, maybe not,
but wouldn't it be a hoot?
Imagine Top Secret d20 style, a revamp of the artifact
testing tables from Gamma World. Dare I say it..a
Gangbuster revival. Okay, maybe I'm getting a bit
silly, but we got D&D right?
Many thanks,
Christian Walker
