Is there a precedent for this?
It depends entirely on your sources. If you accurately cite the SRD as your sole derivative source then you are perfectly legal. If you received "inspiration" for the shadow dragon from some other source that is probably Ok so long as A) you use only the 'idea' of a shadow dragon and B) you do not use any of the specific fictional material in the old 2e stuff as the basis for YOUR concept of a shadow dragon. You must be able to trace the lineage of all of your concept through either your own material or through the SRD exclusively. IANAL, but I used this technique to reverse-engineer the character creation and level advancement rules. I think it is valid, but until it is tested nobody knows for sure. -Brad _______________________________________________ Ogf-l mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/ogf-l
