I'd like to do something like this in a sourcebook I'm writing. It
focuses on a topic common to fantasy RPG's and includes some real-world
history and science to give the player and the DM a better understanding
of the field. If I was writing any other kind of book, I would include
footnotes/endnotes to indicate where the original research was done, or
my source for the facts in the book.

But the d20/OGL prohibition against using trademarks has me spooked. Can
I cite (explicitly) the other books and stay in compliance?

I'd like to open the whole work because I think it would be useful for
other authors to know that they can lift any part of the text and use it
as background or detail in their game without having to worry about
plagiarism or copyright infringement. Just use the OGL and put another
line (mine) into Section 15 and you're fine (all the time).

How would y'all handle something like this?
