Posted to the public list, since I think it's of public interest..

a)How 'wild' are you looking for? Obviously, you don't want another 
Tolkein rip-off, but how far in the other direction is acceptable? Would 
a setting such as "The entire world is a giant living organism and 
everyone lives inside of it and the 'dungeons' are really its veins and 
arteries and everything is all gooey and organic and stuff" be 
immediately tossed out? (I mean, for reasons other than the obvious.) 
Krynn and Forgotten Realms were mentioned as guidelines; does this mean 
'far out' setting like Planescape, or genre-focused settings like 
Ravenloft, are no-go?

b)Should we assume that races, both major and minor, must conform to 
'D&D Standard' or can we have chaotic good Mind Flayers who live in oak 
trees and talk to the birdies?
