Are there SRD'd rules for any metal types except for mithral and admantine? (If you're thinking of making some, please do! ;) ) Since there are more advanced metals--and the technology is a sample of medieval / early renaissance tech--they're almost certainly using real steels and not just iron. I'm not certain, but I don't think that you CAN make a longsword sword out of iron and expect it to last.
