I don't know if this is the right place for this but... I have almost all of the yearly volumes of Cumulative Book Review Digest from when it started up to 1922. I've been putting them through Distributed Proofreaders to get clean text, then doing some further cleanup to make the files as consistent as possible for machine processing. The entries provide title, author(s). publisher, # of pages and price information for each book that was reviewed that year in any of a large number of periodicals. Each entry also include blurbs (a few sentences to a short paragraph) about the book, and then a list of the reviews, some with excerpts and some just with + or - to indicate the positive or negative nature of the review.
I don't think the review information would be very interesting, but the blurbs that are associated with each title could be added into OL to give information about some of the older books. I've also found a surprising number of titles of that vintage that are not in OL and this would be another way to identify them. I don't know how to do robot adding or how to mechanize the process of adding the blurbs. I thought about doing some by hand, but then I couldn't figure out where the information would best go and how to reference it. It seems important to me to note that the blurb was written long ago, not recently. So, in order to use this information, I need someone to decide where these blurbs should go, and then someone to use the files I'm preparing to actually add them in.
