Hi,

I'm a new subscriber to this list but I've been volunteering for the
past month or so answering the bulk of the Open Library support email
that comes in and editing some of the FAQ pages. I created the
Troubleshooting pages. Often the support requests are straightforward,
but sometimes I come up against some problems that I can't
troubleshoot. And sometimes those problems point back to something in
the OL code. I've kicked a few of these to Anand, but I figured it
might also be good to mention them here since I know people are
talking about road map stuff and people also know much more about the
OL back end than I do.

The main problem that has cropped up suddenly this week is a rash of
Adobe Digital Edition errors, specifically the "Error getting license.
License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_DATABASE" error. I've
done enough back and forth with users (made sure their systems were
not blocking communication, that it was only happening with OL, that
it was reproducible) that it seems to be something on our end. But now
I'm stuck. I'm not sure how to move forward to try to figure out what
is going on and whether it's fixable.

I'm aware that the standard response is that OL is unsupported,
doesn't have a dev team, etc. At the same time, if something is broken
and maybe needs fixing, it would be nice if that were possible. I'll
accept no for an answer, but just want to make sure I've tried
everything. The Kerouac, Hunter and Hendricks items on this list of
mine are ones that users have reported having trouble with

Do people who know more about the Adobe DRM setup have any more
insight into what might be causing this error, and/or how to respond
to users (including me) who are getting it repeatedly?

Thanks.

Jessamyn
