I've noticed the site being sporadically unreliable recently, but today I made the mistake of attempting to use the OpenLibrary API as the example API for a class of 30+ Harvard librarians and not only was the API returning 500s, but the entire web site, even including the home page, was refusing to render.
We gave up after a couple of minutes, but it went from 50% availability to 0% availability and stayed down until we gave up. Is this a temporary condition or a trend that's going to continue? Anecdotaly it seems to be getting worse. Tom p.s. I'd chalk it up to Murphy's Law of live demos except I've been noticing problems recently before today.
