Hello all-
Man...I'm kinda getting disgruntled over this whole compression thing. I
paid $150 for a set of 7a heads, thinking they'd get me into the 8.8:1 range
(per the FAQ)... Now...with the added piston-to-deck clearance, the added
thickness of an aftermarket head gasket, plus aftermarket pistons, plus the
missing cc's of having re-worked heads, I'm back down to 8.1:1.
Grrrr....
But...as kind of a disclaimer... Looking through the FAQ, it says that per
point of compression I only gain about 2-3% in power. So...between 8:1 and
9:1, I'd go from 270hp to 278hp.
8hp. Big whoop.
I could have done better with my stock 3A 75cc heads and flat top pistons,
yeilding a 9.0:1 ratio...
But...it seems that there's no "in between" my 22cc dish aftermarket pistons
and flat-tops. Why don't they make 10cc pistons for us "in betweeners" so
we can bump up our compression? My '70 Cutlass Supreme has only slightly
dished pistons but there's no aftermarket equivelant....
I've considered milling the block/heads/intake...given the 2-3%HP increase,
it's just not worth it.
Oh well.
