Ok guys, I'll take a picture of the NOS unit and send out a link shortly.
A W31 engine would have flat top pistons. They were the only small blocks to
come from the factory with flat tops. The only other flat top piston engines
from the factory were the early 400's in the 442's if I recall correctly.

By the way, I have a few newly acquired parts if anyone is interested hit me
offline for prices and pictures: 1964 330 4-bbl intake, 1973 350 4-bbl
intake, 2 sets of mint standard valve covers (not notched), 2 TH350
transmissions, 2 sets of core 7A heads, 2 mint oil pans, 2 Nodular 350
automatic cranks (or inquire about the complete 350 engines that they are
currently). There is also what appears to be an original 1964 aluminum Olds
water pump. Numerous other parts as well.

I'll post the W31 balancer photo soon, and no, sorry THAT piece is not for
sale :-)
It will go on my 1969 W31 one of these days...

Karl
