Ok Denis as i said I ain't no rpm scientist :-D
all I've seen is that rpmbuild in Fresh fetch me the sources from a sourceforge mirror and in OMV don't , at the beginning , my concern was about writing permits on the buildir/rpmbuild/SOURCES but with a direct link to the source sometimes the miracle happen,it fetched the source and build just nice, so you tell me ... i can give you logs of the failed builds in omv same gits copy/paste from fresh that already published... So I know that ain't perfect , and in rosa too, are few sources that can't be fetched , but on OMV nothing be fetched..., All I can tell you is that in rosa more then 80% of my builds I can fetch the sources , on omv not , actually to be fair I've manage to fetch one tarball ( cwp direct link on kde-apps) nothing else in omv ... Now 2014.0 is about to be launched , I don't think that you can change too much, but even after that will be a lot
of fixings to be done , so yes ,would be very useful if you could pimp up
the fetching at rosa's level, it is perfect? Hell no, but is the best we can have atm...
Again can you please help omv with this ?
As a personal favor , please?

Thank you in advance

Please consider it as a emergency for packaging.

By default rpm uses wget to download sources, as wget is easy and simple tool for simple downloads, also it does not bloat build chroot like curl does.

Are you sure that rpm in cooker uses external wget? Or you mean that ut uses its internal implementation?

The thing is that in theory rpm5 should be able to download sources from Internet without any external tool; however, this functionality became broken since some time in cooker and ROSA. Not sure what is the state of the art in cooker now, but in ROSA we have simply "resurrected" old-style urlgetfile macro (https://abf.io/import/rpm/blob/rosa2012.1/rpm-5.4.10-turn-back-urlgetfile.patch).

Though this solves only small part of the problems. For example, you still can't query remote packages like 'rpm -qip http://mirror.yandex.ru/rosa/rosa2012.1/repository/x86_64/main/updates/rpm-5.4.10-27-rosa2012.1.x86_64.rpm'.
