Hello everyone,

for those of you who remember the Prague meeting I presented the platform
"transifex" to handle our localization efforts. It has now turned out that
apparently they are no longer "open source" and I got an email from Mandriva
SA that they switched to a new localization platform.

The platform Mandriva SA uses ist called "weblate" and the reasons for the
switch to this platform where as follows:

Why replacing Transifex:
- on a old server on MES 5, patched to run with python 2.5
- Transifex is no longer opensource and opensource repo is dead
- very difficult to maintain
- buggy, tracebacks server side etc...

Why Weblate:
- open source and active
- tightly coupled with git repo => less management to pull/push translations
(if new PO files are commited, new strings appears in Weblate, when some
translations are done, translations are commited in the repo by weblate
  automagically)
- quality checks on translations !
- nice web interface (the zen mode layout is not yet finished it will come)
- written in django, not so many dependencies

Would this be of help for us?

Have a good day,

Maik "tapwag" Wagner
