Ben,
I don't know what to think about this. 2014.0 was know to be good for an efi 
install and I think we only had one problem box which to be honest was never 
satisfactorily resolved. I would advise investigating your bios to see whether 
there is a way to turn off secure boot. If you can boot the live image maybe 
you could try to install grub by mounting the drive and then installing grub 
to it.
I'm sorry I can't be more help but I don't have an efi machine so I have no 
experience. I'll ask around for solution.
