I've opened up my repositories with all the work done on this, the tools for generating isos are easy to use and really fast (it's basically just doing two rounds of dependency solving of all packages to be included on iso, then writing the iso directly without need for copying all of iso content to one location. Nor does it require root either. :) It's not a high priority of mine to merge DrakX yet, but if anyone would be willing to do so, I'm available for answering any questions. The DrakX repo, along with all the other *drak* tools etc. has been actively developed and maintained by myself, while merging all of Mageia's commits of interest and also syncing translations, so considering the packages of in the distro being virtually unmaintained for more than 1,5 years, I'd assume people would have great interest in merging this work... > > because the minimal iso looks well so far :) and this it is why i have > think about the installer-possibility .. > becasue we mus satisfy also providers, they are can be also the key for an > big success .. > and eventually working with .. > How large is the minimal iso? boot.iso, which contains a very complete and and convenient environment linked against uClibc. It's basically the old second stage rescue mode image merged with the first stage installer, but far more complete & powerful, being a mini version of the distro providing most of base distro functionality with a lot of convenient diagnostic, rescue, network tools etc. comes at a size of about currently 35MB, coming naturally with the network installer from the past. The compressed initramfs takes less than 10MB and can be used as a rescue/diagnostic environment far more complete and more convenient in usage than what dracut provides with far larger images.. So if people are looking for tasks to work on, just holler, I've got loads of stuff that needs to be merged and better integrated into the distro etcetc. :) -- Regards, Per Øyvind
