IMHO this tools are so tiny and considered to be legacy that I wouldn't try this kind of "optimization". pinfo is curses based, so I would just install it by default (i.e. adding to the list of default packages) beside legacy "info". Note that beside this, there are other fancy info readers. For instance in konqueror if you type info:/, you can navigate and browse trough all the info pages.
