My idea:
1. Do not require xscreensaver at all
2. Adapt kscreenlocker QML script to display images from distro-theme-OpenMandriva-screensaver
3. Everybody is happy

Here is the QML:
https://github.com/KDE/kscreenlocker/blob/master/greeter/fallbacktheme/LockScreen.qml#L49

Patch should provide a function that will display in name order images from /usr/share/mdk/screensaver/
Function should display next image after X seconds.

in this way it is not customizable

are you sure all users like images, or someone want his images, or someone do not want images?

KDE4 has a native screensaver, afaik Plasma5 has not.

That's fine - as long as xscreensaver doesn't screenlock on
its own? Then that's just doing the same thing as KDE's, just
        with a much uglier dialog.

Screensaver is different from screen locker, you know.
I'd rather prefer xscreensaver doing the screensaver job -
            feature
screenlocker *disabled* - and screen locker its own
            (enabled or
disabled by default I personally don't care that much,
            although my
preference goes to disabled and users turn it on if they need)
