I certainly am no expert on this topic but I do think the laws are at
the Federal and State levels on employee safety and not at the local
level. Mostly at the Federal level with things like OSHA

and at the State with Workman's Compensation.

Maybe you could go down to the Labor Temple and ask some people there.
(I can't find it in the phone book -- not under labor or under
liquor - on sale. Maybe someone else out there knows the address and
the right name for it - or whether or not it even still exists.
