Jim,
There was an interesting Dear Abby a while back from a woman who caught a
severe case of flu from the man whose desk was next to her (he refused to
take sick days and stay home whenever he was ill). She ended up getting
pneumonia and was hospitalized for two weeks. It took her four more weeks
to recover, causing her to miss six weeks of work all because some guy
wouldn't use his sick days and stay home. Teachers are exposed to more
germs than the rest of us put together. I'm surprised with how healthy they
are. Many women (and men)use their sick days to take care of their sick
children. I don't think there is any reason to resent people for staying
home when they or their children are ill. If more people stayed home when
they were sick, the rest of us might not get sick so often.
