Ok, here is an answer to your question from an adult perspective:
As an attorney, i have had to pass through a metal detector several times before
entering court and have my materials x-rayed similar to at an airport.
Is it an inconvience? Yes, but in light of Columbine, Oklahoma City, etc. i have no
series problem with it.
