I think the author's name Cherisa is looking for is Barbara Ehrenreich.

How do you define prevention? Is it fixing the underlaying problem or
installing metal detectors?

Life may be unfair, but, the "repressive atmosphere" it the number one
reason which drove myself and many other students out of Dist. 861. If
861 wishes to survive these tough times, the repressive atmosphere must
go. Life may not be fair, but what is the point in living if we can not
at least attempt to make it fair?
Life is not fair, but this should not be used as a justification to
degrade basic human rights. The real solution lies in fixing the
underlaying problem. If their is a hole in your wall, does placing a
paining over the hole fix the hole?

How often do you say to yourself, "I didn't do it; so of course it
didn't get done?"
