Dean,
It is lawful for a parent to serve alcohol to his/her own child NOT TO ANY
OTHER MINOR within the parent's household. I hope that the Chief of Police
agrees with me.

Subject: [Winona] alcohol to minors

> Some time back, around about the time of graduation parties, there was some
discussion regarding the legality of parents serving alcohol to thier own
kids.
> After much research I have come across the definitive answer to that
question. (In truth i stumbled upon at work searching another, related,
matter.)
> Yes, it is legal for a parent or guardian to serve alcholic beverages to a
minor "solely for consumption in the household of the parent or guardian".
(Minn. Stat §340.503)
> So, absent any comment on my part regards the wisdom of the law, that is
the current state of the law on this issue.
