[Winona Online Democracy]
I know what my children are doing, we talk about drug use and drinking all
the time. I do not drink, I do not go to the many bars in this town and I
have taught my children that drinking is something that needs to be done
with care. Unfortunately, there are parents in this town that purchase beer
for "their" children and friends and don't understand why it's a problem.
I'm lucky enough to know what my children do outside of my home because they
tell me everything and I know when my children have been offered a drink. I
also have made it known to those parents out there that I will not tolerate
them purchasing beer for my children, teach you own children to drink, but
not mine! I do agree that the drinking age should be 19, but since it's
not; we all should make sure that our children learn not to drink when it is
legal for them and teach them how to drink responsibly.
And again, I will never serve my children drinks until they are of age.
