I agree that most of the streets are in good shape. Living on a sand bar,
as does Winona provides a good stable base for streets. The City Council
approved $66,000 for seal coats (oil), and $54,500 for overlays
(bituminous), for the year 2001. Those projects will cover a number of
streets as determined in need by the street department.

Mr. Nelson:
I live in the West End, and although my street is still in good shape, it is
my opinion that it could use a coat of Hot Tar to seal up a lot of the
little cracks that appear every spring. ( we get some nice pot holes come
March/April) Are there any plans to tar any streets this summer?
