SBCL has improved over the years to the point that it has become the de
facto Lisp development.  If (and when) GCL works, it is second-best :-)
For that reason, and the fact that it is available in many more
platforms than SBCL, it is worth going through the trouble of supporting.

Let me see if I can fix the "drop" bug without having to throw away the
type proclamation.  It is a pity that GCL does not handle type
proclamation very well.
