Well, a special daughter card that allows several daughter cards
to share one slot on the main board.

Think of how a switch/hub can allow several computers to share
one port on the adsl modem.

If the main card supported addressing say 1-8 (0-7) daughter cards,
and they communicated using packets with id fields it should be
a small matter to support a mix of addons. Both official and
3rd party addons could be used if the spec was open.

But the daughter cards should be able to connect direcly to the
main board aswell as through a switch card.

Physical dimentions (occupying 2-3 slots) would of course be a
minor problem, but I for one would not have a problem with that.

The daughter cards can also be used for non-graphics purposes,
for those using the cards for experimenting with other things.
Sensors, relay arrays, fan-controller, etc.. Lots of projects
could be made easier if the interface is simpler to use than
the raw pci bus. (And faster than lpt/com ports)
