We're not targetting anything at all.  Sometimes I use "PCI" in the
abstract to refer to any peripheral bus.  Plus, this audio project is
purely hypothetical right now.  I personally am not targetting
anything because I do not intend to lead this project.  If the
community finds a leader or facilitator who can collect everything
together into a spec, I can give some feedback about what's feasible
in hardware, and Traversal can build it.

No problem at all, and thank you.  Keep in mind that the retail price
I'm going after for these audio cards is in the thousands, even for
the economy model.  I want a design that's equivalent to tens of
thousands of dollars in pro equipment that we sell for only a few
thousand due to the economy of the open source model.

As for taking donations, since Lourens is working on the web site,
perhaps he can build into it what's necessary to accept pre-money.
First we need a way for people to simple declare that they would be
willing to either donate or pre-order.  Next, we can start accepting
real money.

That's the point of the other thread.  :)

Note that the higher-end it is, the easier it is to give you your money's worth.

In that case I have that same $500 for a high end Linux Video card :) It would be almost too cool to have a Really Nice linux video card! OSS drivers anyone!!

Thanks,
Gary
