How about putting a rs-232 port on the OGC board?  (pin headers
would be fine)

This gets you:

        The ability to have a rs-232 console if you want.  (Most
        serious servers use rs-232 consoles to make it easy to
        control them remotely.)

        Makes the firmware (e.g. LinuxBIOS) developers happy.

        Could be used for setting the video mode, flashing the OGC's
        firmware, etc.

        An extra rs-232 port if you aren't using it for the above.
