The bottom image is clearly sharper of the two. You might get a sharper image of the top side, if the heatsink was removed for the time of scanning. That way the surface of the board would get closer to the scanning head. The heatsink could be easily added to the image afterwards. On the other hand there are also the connectors which would still push the card up a little. Which one actually is taller - the heatsink or the connectors?
