I don't think that discussion is essential to us. The wars over binary-only
modules have been going on for years now, and a clear decision is not
likely any time soon. However, binary-only drivers have always been a PITA
for both users and developers, and that will not change.

In many cases, people put up with it simply because there is no
alternative. The legal angle may or may not be effective, and freedom may
make a good argument with some people (especially developers), but I
suspect that the key selling point for users will be convenience: 3D
acceleration working out of the box with all distros and kernels.

Also, I don't think it makes much sense to keep plugging OGP before _some_
hardware is available. Only then can you ask people to put their money
where their mouth is. If OGP was more high-profile it would start attracting
Duke Nukem Forever jokes by now.
