Put like that, it seems that everywhere openGL is supported, OGP has a
chance to place its products. So, Linux distros isn't a big market,
there's at least Apple.
(I let aside the embedded market since you're speaking about PC)

Yes, it's a problem and it's also a problem for Vista because the
peripherals have also to comply and these later count as much for the
consumers. The wiser of them who can't afford to renew all their
equipments will wait before buying a new-vista PC.
As you seem to fear, the crucial point is whether the new mobos will be
still accessible for Linux and for free drivers.
I'm not sure that a mobo maker is interested to be tied to a single OS
