How about just use the DF12 connectors from Hirose without making it
compatible to any "standard"? It would be a good expansion connector
for high speed signals, it's not too expensive and considering the
size quite robust.

Though i have to issue a warning. The DF12 connectors are not meant
to be soldered by hand. It needs some soldering experience and some
optical help to solder them without frying them in the process.
As the receptacle (DF12...DS-0.5V) is easier to solder by hand than
the header (DF12...DP-0.5V)) i would suggest to put the header onto
OGD1. Also some form of mechanical fixation would be needed, as these
connectors do not provide much mechanical stability.

The only big disadvantage of the DF12 series is that they are not
easy to get in small quantities. But that could mittigated if
someone (me?) would play reseller and bought a reel, that could
be worked around.
