I have a samtec catalog behind me (yes, even at home :-),
but they are not cheap and price is an issue for us.

Getting samples is mostly not a problem. Getting 5 to 10 DF12
is easy. Just tell the reseller something about great new product
idea and tests blahblah and you'll get them. The problem is more
if you want more than 10.

Getting the exact right DF12 might be a problem though.
The DF12 is a family of connectors with many sub types.
If you don't choose one that is widely used, you'll end
up with a speciality that needs to be specally produced
for you (as we did recently, because we needed a DF12 with
5mm hight).
