Donald,
You can also leave off the |9 if you want all the consortium to retrieve the record in a search. To see how we did a record for a resource available to the entire consortium, check http://gapines.org/eg/opac/record/5737867?query=mango%20languages;qtype=keyword;locg=9 and then scroll down to view the MARC record. If you just want to give the two libraries access to the same URL, I would suggest adding the |9 for each location to one 856 rather than multiple 856s. I personally would only use 2 856s if the link differed for the 2 libraries. Elaine J. There is a global flag you can enable to see these electronic resources when scoped to the consortium (ASLAN), but they won't show up for users specifically searching the WATS library. You could add a second subfield 9 with the WATS library to your 856 field. This would continue to display just one URL on the record, but force it to appear in the WATS library scope. Alternatively, you could add a second 856 field for the WATS library if you want two URL's to display: one that should be used for ATS and one that should be used for WATS. If you want the resource to appear for all branches, you could put the consortium in subfield 9 instead of ATS. There seemed to be a consensus that an item record isn't necessary. Here is our new scenario. We have a bib record that is already available in the ATS Library. The WATS Library (which is part of our consortium) wants it to appear in their catalog as well. How is that done if there is no attached item record? Hoping this is just a newbie question. Thanks!
