When speaking with all of the NFSv4 vendors their greatest argument in favor of NFSv4 vs AFS is that NFSv4 will be part of the operating system and will be supported by the OS vendor. This claim may be true for UNIX/Linux but as far as I am aware from Microsoft, it will not be true in Windows through the Vista cycle which is at least five years.
