Hi Jordan,

I'm a Windows Admin. Even though I know a *nix based install would
probably be better, I'm significantly more comfortable in a Windows
Environment with Microsoft SQL. My current install is a Jetty r2r
install of openBD 1.2, and it was running fine. Last night I installed
the latest java package, and since then, I haven't been able to get
jetty to start.

I have a vmWare ESXi host, and I just finished setting up a new
Windows 2003 WebServer.

With the Jetty install, I have all of my configs, etc. setup so I can
just plug them in and turn up my site. It's the site you tested and I
am thankful for that.

Now that I'm nearing the point to actually set some of this site live,
and I need to do a reinstall now anyway, I'm going to step back and
reconsider how I want to deploy this. I'm ok with IIS, but I really
like how lean jetty is.

Once I decide on how I want to deploy, I am going to make copies of
the vm, and deploy it in a network load balanced farm. I'm using
pfSense as my firewall, and it supports NLB. So I will just deploy 3
copies of the vm, change hostname to wwwX (www1,www2,www3), and change
the IP. The pfSense will act as the VIP that initial requests hit.

Having said that, another thing I liked about Jetty was everything was
done via .XML and as I need to do reinstalls or deploy more servers
or, in my case, update live servers with updated configs from an
approved staging server, it's all easy to do.

What are the advantages to the Windows Installer vs r2r package?
